Many of the beautiful trees in Brechtel Park were completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The first step in replacement is the removal of stumps throughout the park. The Westbank Redevelopment Corporation has contributed $10,000 for stump removal in the park. There is still work to be done, and anyone interested in stump removal and tree plantings should contact New Orleans Parks and Parkways at (504) 658-3200.
